Adecco are looking for a cook for their busy client based in Dundee


You must have a PVG
Operational

  • Adhering to Nursery Policies & Procedures and fully complying with the requirements of the Food Standards Agency and SCSWIS.
  • Successfully implementing and monitoring HACCP based systems using the Cooksafe Manual.
  • Maintain the Cooksafe Manual and ensuring it is completed correctly and kept up to date with changes to current legislation.
  • To ensure that all meals and snacks prepared are to each child's individual needs and likes e.g., pureed food,
solids, dietary needs, and preferences and to provide alternatives at short notice where required.

  • To cook/prepare a morning snack, two course lunch and afternoon high tea for up to 63 children.
  • To prepare and serve refreshments for nursery events e.g., Garden Party, Parents Evening etc.
  • To prepare and carry out weekly ordering reflecting numbers of children attending nursery.
  • To support and participate in regular activities with children to promote the company healthy eating ethos.
  • To maintain high levels of communication regarding all kitchen issues.
  • Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager or Director.
Personnel

  • Ensure that appropriate catering clothing is worn in the nursery kitchen and laundered daily.
  • Ensure that nonslip enclosed footwear is worn.
  • Ensure that hair is tied back and covered with a hairnet and a hat.
  • Nails to be kept short no varnish false gel or acrylic nails.
  • No jewellery except for a wedding band.
  • Provide a positive role model to the staff team.
  • Supporting staff to ensure that the correct procedures as followed for the preparation and serving of food.
Health & Safety

  • Preventing cross contamination of food within the kitchen area. Ensuring regular review and update of the Cross Contamination Prevention House Rules which are an essential component of the HACCP based system and must be kept up to date at all times.
  • Maintaining allergy management systems in line with Company policy.
  • Liaising with all Nursery Staff to maintain accurate and up to date records of children with allergy and dietary requirements.
  • Complying with Health and Safety legislation
  • Remaining aware and observant of all health and safety issues in the nursery and where possible reducing the risk of an accident occurring through preventative actions
  • Maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness/tidiness within the nursery kitchen
  • Carrying out health and safety checks
  • Adhering to health and safety procedures
  • Being aware of the outcome of monitoring through HACCP based system and fully implementing the specified controls
  • Ensuring all food substances are labelled.
  • Ensuring all foods are covered prior to serving.
  • Ensuring that foods stored in the refrigerator and freezer are labelled and adequately covered.
  • Ensuring stock rotation and ensuring all stock is clearly labelled to include expiry dates.
  • Monitoring and recording in writing the temperature of fridge and freezer on a daily basis both am and pm
  • Recording temperatures of highrisk food at time of delivery and cooking
  • Storing and serving all food at the temperatures required by the Food Standards Agency
  • To be aware of the responsibilities regarding food hygiene and to ensure that all activities are carried out in line with the Food Standard legislation and environmental health practice.
  • To maintain a high standard of hygiene in all aspects of the work and support other staff in developing their understanding and practice.
  • To report any issues or concerns regarding food hygiene practice and carry out monitoring and checks as required.
  • Ensuring the kitchen and equipment is kept suitably clean at all times
  • Ensuring the effective and regular removal of waste materials.
  • To ensure that the correct equipment is used and that they are washed and stored
  • To have an understanding of the issues involved in safeguarding children and a willingness to report issues and concerns.
