Tate are currently working with one of the UK's top housing associations based in Colindale, North London to recruit a Policy Officer to join the Strategy and Compliance / Growth and Development Directorate to support with the development and approvalof the councils Housing Strategy, Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Carry out qualitative and quantitative research and analysis and understand the latest guidance and good practice to inform housingrelated policy and strategy decisions, shape improvement plans, and advise colleagues on good practice,
  • Analyse external and internal information to understand performance, help identify learning, inform strategy and policy development, and produce reports and briefings.
  • Translate key housing legislation into practice to ensure the organisation meets statutory requirements.
  • Coordinate colleague, customer, and stakeholder engagement and communications throughout policy and strategy consultation, design, and implementation phases.
  • Identify and analyse risks and opportunities arising from policy and legislative development across government and in the housing and adult social care sectors and wider society, and developments within The Barnet Group and the London Borough of Barnet.
  • Maintain an uptodate knowledge of regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare concise, timely, and wellstructured briefing papers, and reports.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, briefings, and workshops to staff, stakeholders, and partner organisations.
  • Support the policy development process, including identifying needs, and providing advice and support to operational policy authors, and identifying, reviewing, and communicating good practice.
  • Review and develop key housingrelated and corporate policies as required.
  • Coordinate the overarching strategy and policy review and approval process.

Experience required:


  • Degreelevel education or equivalent through relevant training / experience
  • Experience within housing or local authority
  • Experience with strategic project work
  • Experience of preparing and presenting clear and concise written reports and briefings on complex and sensitive issues within demanding timescales as well as success in communicating the information contained within.
  • Experience of problemsolving and offering a range of practical solutions to organisational issues.
  • Experience of delivering change and implementing actions to meet challenging targets.
  • Experience of developing policies (desirable).
