Adecco Public Sector are partnered with the Security Industry Authority (SIA), in the recruitment of an Intelligence Researcher to join them on a permanent basis.

This role offers the opportunity for Hybrid working with attendance to the SIA's London, Docklands office required.


About the SIA
The SIA is the organisation responsible for the regulation of private security.

It is an independent, arm's length body (ALB) of the Home Office, reporting to the Home Secretary, under the terms of the Private Security Industry Act 2001.

The SIA's purpose protecting the public through effective regulation of the private security industry and working with partners to raise standards across the sector.

Its regulatory remit covers the whole of the United Kingdom.


The SIA has two main duties: the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities within the private security industry and the management of a voluntary Approved Contractor Scheme, which measures private security suppliers against independently assessed criteria.


SIA licensing covers security operatives who are in guarding, door supervision, close protection, cash and valuables in transit, and public space surveillance using CCTV, vehicle immobilisation (in Northern Ireland) and key holding.

Licensing ensures that private security operatives are fit and proper persons who are properly trained and qualified to do their job.


About the Role
As an intelligence researcher, you will support the development and delivery of strategic and operational intelligence and risk products. You will gather research and assess information from a variety of sources, both internally and externally.

You will be responsible for producing clear, concise, and accurate research products to support intelligence development and SIA business activity.

What skills are we looking for?

  • Experience of working as an Intelligence Researcher, ideally in a law enforcement or regulatory regime.
  • Understanding and experience of legislation relating to the control and processing of information, particularly the Data Protection Act, the Freedom of Information Act, and the Human Rights Act.
  • Understanding and experience of working with the principles of intelligence and risk models, for example, the National Intelligence Model.
  • Understanding and experience of the development and production of effective and efficient intelligence and risk research products.
  • Ability to form strong, positive working relationships both inside and outside of an organisation.
Ability to influence and negotiate with key contacts

It would be great if you have experience in these areas:

  • Understanding of The Private Security Act 200
  • Understanding of the SIA's regulatory products.
  • Practical knowledge of intelligence software, ideally i2 and including; iBase, Analyst Notebook, Data Mapping and Data Miner.
