Job summary:


Defence Digital provide digital and technology services (based on the MOD Digital Backbone) to the whole of Defence, ensuring they can operate securely via all means such as radio, satellite and the internet.

Operating at scale, with an annual budget in excess of £2Bn and a diverse team of 2,500 colleagues, we are aiming to make our Armed Forces some of the most technologically advanced in the world.

To do that we are growing our capabilities in disciplines like data science, automation and cyber security.


The Core Enabling Services (CES) team is a key part of Defence Digital and is central to their ambition to deliver an efficient and effective MOD Digital Backbone and wider ambitions for the future.

CES provides the portfolio structure and support for three vital strands of the Digital Backbone including the Digital Identity Service.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.


Job description:


As a Project Support Officer, you will support and assist with a diverse range of activities to support the delivery of the project's objectives.

This means enabling the smooth running of the project by supporting the project manager through the operation of project management processes and provide support with Business Management activities when required.


Responsibilities include:

  • Planning and Scheduling
  • Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling


  • Monitoring and Reporting

  • Assist in maintaining project controls and in producing project reports

  • Assist with and maintain appropriate systems to enable effective planning and scheduling

  • Assist with and maintain risk, issue and dependency logs, escalating as appropriate

  • Assist with maintaining the stakeholder log for internal and external stakeholders. Act as the focal point for project responses to external requests for information


  • Resourcing

  • Assist with and maintain with resourcing requirements to enable effective control and understanding in producing reports and requests


  • Admin

  • Responsible for project file management using robust version control.

Person specification:

The role will suit individual who wants to learn and grow in the Project Delivery and Digital domain.


This job role is suitable for hybrid working, which is an informal, non-contractual and voluntary arrangement, blending a balance of attendance in the workplace (your permanent duty station) and working from home as a personal choice.
