Lendwise is an education finance platform that enables access to higher education by providing low-cost, flexible loans. We are based in London and regulated by the FCA (see below for more information).


We are seeking an experienced individual to join the Credit Risk Assessment team to ensure optimal credit risk analysis and underwriting evaluation of Lendwise student loans.

As an underwriter, you will play a pivotal role ensuring that lending decisions are aligned to the relevant their Credit Risk strategy whilst keeping to affordability and responsible lending guidelines.

Purpose of the role

  • Making lending decisions for unsecured student loans
  • In addition to credit worthiness, assess affordability of customers
  • Analyse, prepare and price loan cases within your individual mandate level, offering your recommendation to a higher level approval authority where appropriate
  • Identify opportunities to improve the underwriting process
  • Consumer Credit Analysis experience in unsecured consumer finance (min 2 years)
  • Knowledge of underwriting and scorecard model development techniques
  • Can work independently in a challenging, fast paced environment
  • Welcomes the opportunity to develop their existing skills and build upon their experience, taking responsibility for their own continuous professional development
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Outstanding organisational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Team player
  • Fluency in English with additional languages a benefit
  • Numerate to a high level
  • An understanding of governance and relevant FCA regulations for a consumer P2P marketplace lender, such as TCF

Working within the Credit Assessment team, you will also

  • Support the development of the business in the context of risk appetite, giving valueadd insights with reports and other such materials
  • Act as an advocate for the Credit Risk function as the business grows

£35,000.00-£40,000.00 per year
