Central Access CBU are delighted to offer an exciting new post covering the Crisis, Psychiatric Liaison, Street Triage (Northumberland, Tyne & Wear), ECT (Trustwide) and Addictions services (NTaR) provided within Newcastle and Gateshead.

We are seeking a skilled, dynamic and innovative Community Matron to lead the development of nursing practice and services within the CBU to enhance patient experience, quality and safety.


We are seeking a highly skilled professional who is committed to partnership working, both internal and external, and can work collaboratively with the CBU's wider collective leadership team to lead positive change and service development.

The successful applicant will be able to develop relationships at all levels and be highly attuned to the needs of service users, staff and the wider organisation to achieve positive outcomes.


The postholder will report to the Associate Director and Associate Nurse Director to ensure that key CBU priorities are achieved, should have experience of working in a leadership role and experience in leading service development within Access services.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced clinician to further develop their nursing career in a leadership role, supporting the Collective Leadership Team in developing and improving Access Services within Newcastle and Gateshead.


The post offers to opportunity to help shape quality, safety and innovation within the Access CBU as services transform in line with the NHS Long Term Plan and the Community Mental Health Framework.


The post holder will represent the CBU in collective work with Trust colleagues and partner agencies and support the delivery of effective change at a service level with local leadership.


The post holder will also drive clinical governance, patient safety and quality in the CBU and locality by embedding lessons learned following Serious Incidents, developing processes which maintain patient safety and delivering training to advance clinical practice.


The post holder will lead the delivery and completion of rolling audit programmes designed to provide assurance around clinical processes.


The post holder will utilise their experience and expertise to provide clinical and management supervision, within their scope of practice.

The post holder will also support the delivery of key seasonal campaigns such as Influenza and COVID vaccination.
