The Welsh Language Tutor will play a key role in ensuring the organisation complies with the Welsh Language Standards of the Welsh Language Measure (Wales) 2011.

The aim of this post is to widen the opportunities and support available for Health Board staff to learn and use Welsh.

The post will drive the Health Board's strategic aim of increasing the use of Welsh in its administration and service provision thus addressing key requirements within the Welsh Language Standards.

The postholder will be a specialist on Welsh language training and development and will design and deliver a comprehensive training and assessment programme for new and existing staff to improve the level of patient services available in Welsh.


The Tutor will lead on the planning, organising and delivery of a range of Welsh language training opportunities to meet the varying needs and demands of the organisation.


To ensure that staff learn Welsh with a particular view to using it in the workplace, the main focus of the post will be on teaching staff via courses which have been tailor-made specifically for them.

Ensure that outcomes and objectives of learning area align with the linguistic level data required with the ESR System.

Outcomes will also require consistency with the Association of Language Testers of Europe Level 1-5 Can-do Framework in line with European guidelines and testing.


The post holder will also assist the Welsh Language Team in delivering cultural and language awareness training to inform staff of current and upcoming legislative requirements and the Health Board's commitment to provide an "Active Offer" in line with Welsh Government's Follow on Strategic Framework for Welsh Language Services in Health, Social Services and Social Care.

The ability to speak welsh is essential to this post at a minimum of level 3
