Job Title:
Narrow Blanking Line Operator


Reporting to:
Operations Manager / Works supervisor / Team Leader


Responsible for:
Production of steel and aluminium blanks


Knowledge/Experience Required:


2 years' experience operating a narrow blanking line, competence in using dimensional checking equipment: micrometer, Vernier calipers, tape measures and step block.

Full understanding of quality concerns and able to follow works instructions to the letter. Must also be able to work under own initiative. Would be willing to train an already experienced steel processing line operator.


MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

Setting and running of a Narrow Blanking Line

HEALTH &SAFETY

  • Always Adhere to the Safe systems of work and Risk Assessments laid down by Cooper and Jackson Ltd.
  • Conduct safety checks and record results at the start of every shift.

KEY FUNCTIONS CONTAINED WITHIN THE ROLE

  • Promote Cooper & Jackson Ltd Quality Policy through the continual use of quality assurance procedures, control plans, flow charts, etc.
  • Use own initiative to help maintain a tidy work area with good housekeeping skills.
  • Load coils to be processed as per schedule onto uncoiler using overhead cranes.
  • Set roller leveller to ensure that processed material is flat to within customer requirements.
  • Use calibrated dimensional checking equipment to carry out necessary dimensional checks and record results on Process Works Orders and Shift reports.
  • Weigh produced material, label and record using PCI software and manually enter onto Process Works Orders.
  • Record all process information as accurately as possible onto daily production reports.
  • Follow customer specific quality checks, record findings onto Process Works Orders and Shift reports.
  • Inform Quality Department of any defects.
  • Follow packing instructions on Process Works Orders or customer specific packaging spec sheets.
  • Store finished material safely within despatch area, continually working to organize finished stock to achieve the best use of space.
  • Inform Operations Manager of any concerns which may impact on the efficient running of the blanking line or have health and safety implications.
  • Any other duties that may arise in the future to assist the Operations Manager in the efficient every day running of the factory.

HOURS OF WORK
a) Your normal days of work are Monday to Friday.

c) The above hours of work may vary from time to time depending on the needs of the business, and, you will be expected to work such reasonable overtime as is necessary for the proper performance of your duties. This may include working evenings and weekends.


PAYMENT OF SALARY

  • Your
    starting basic wages will be £12.50 per hour, overtime is £18.75 per hour.

PROBATIONARY PERIOD

  • The first 6 months of your employment will be a probationary period during which time your performance and conduct will be monitored.
  • At the end of the period your performance and conduct will be reviewed and if satisfactory to the Company your employment will be confirmed. If your performance is not deemed to be satisfactory you will either be dismissed or the probationary period extended for a further specified period. During the probationary period your employment may be terminated without prior disciplinary warnings and by the Company giving you one week's notice. Nothing in this clause prevents the Company from terminating your employment before the end of the probationary period.

Salary:
From £32,630.00 per year
