Human Resources Summer Trainee Internship


Location:
Darwen, Lancashire (BB3 3BA)

Full time (37.5 hours per week) for 13 weeks (July-September - can be flexed)

Our summer internship


Our Human Resources summer internship has been designed to give you a taste of what it's like to work with us, along with valuable experience to help guide your career choices.

Over the course of this thirteen-week programme, you can look forward to:

  • Learning about Valmet's culture, values and goals
  • Getting involved with our daytoday work, including a structured approach to people processes
  • Exploring your capability by taking part in business improvement projects, including
  • Updating policy documents to ensure a harmonised set of policies
  • Developing the HR pages of the Valmet UK SharePoint site to include separate areas for:
  • People Policies & Employee Handbook
  • Health & Wellbeing, including Employee Assistance Programme
  • Pension Scheme details
  • Employee (nonPension) Benefits
  • Make progress with uploading employee documents to Workday (HRIS) as a single source of data
  • Develop and produce Total Reward Statements for all employees
  • Developing your collaboration, creativethinking and problemsolving skills
  • Seeing firsthand how we deliver an outstanding service for our customers (c150 UK employees, including 14 UK managers and 25 overseas managers of UK employees)

Entry requirements

To be eligible for our Human Resources summer internship, you'll need:

  • To be in your 2nd or 3rd year of university on relevant undergraduate degree course
  • To be on course to achieving a 2:1 in your degree
  • Great communication skills
  • A passion for understanding and supporting others
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative approach
  • Ideally, some work experience in a commercial setting
  • Independent driver and driving licence holder
  • Be able to work fulltime (37.5 hours per week) and attend our Darwen, Lancashire office (postcode: BB3 3BA) at least 3 days per week.
