Description

Our client is seeking experienced Fabricator/Welders for a night shift. They are a structural steelwork fabrication and engineering company based in Nottinghamshire. Applicants must be competent and experienced working with structural steel drawings in a fast pace environment.

Working hours

Night Shift Monday to Thursday 4PM 2.30AM OR 3.30PM 2AM (40 hour week)

Overtime available after 40 hours up to 60 hours per week

A weld and drawing test will be required upon interview.

General

Identify all the necessary parts and drawings for the item to be fabricated.
Report any missing items, significant defects or information to your supervisor immediately.
Inspect the main member and fittings for; section, dimensional accuracy, material defects e.g. laminations, free from burrs and suitable for fabrication.
Rectify any minor defects before fabrication.
Components to be fabricated in accordance with drawings and checked once completed.
Appropriate PPE to be used at all times

Assembly

Ensure that the steel is secure on the bench.
Set up and mark out in accordance with the drawing.
When using intermediate dimensions for marking out purposes, measure the closing dimensions and check against the drawing.
Mark out centres of holes and centre pop.
Locate the correct position and direction of heals and angles, the correct position along the beam of the set edge of gusset plates etc.
All preparation for welded joints will be in accordance with the relevant weld procedure, with weld sizes greater than 6mm marked on the beam.
When assembling consideration will be given to the need for "strongbacks" stiffeners or ties to minimise distortion.
