Accountancy Recruit is partnering with a ground-breaking organisation at the forefront of global conservation in the recruitment of a Financial Controller to lead the finance team in the delivery of a high standard of service to the global organisation,in accordance with industry best practice.

You will be a fully qualified finance professional with strong communication, interpersonal skills and customer focus to enable you to build effective working relationships at all levels across the organisation, with overseas Finance Teams and department Heads.

Duties
Financial Management

  • Managing a finance team of three with a collaborative, mentoring and supportive approach. Coaching and training; performance reviews, professional development and appraisals.
  • Responsibility for overseeing the daytoday accounting function. Ensuring sound processes and procedures are in place.
  • Managing the month end process for multiple sites and two subsidiaries.
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Overseeing the monthly reconciliation of fundraising income.
  • Reviewing and approving the payment run.
  • Preparing statutory accounts, lead schedules and managing the annual external audit process.
  • Ensuring up to date with key technical accounting developments.
  • Monthly reconciliation of funding income (numerous different streams).
Treasury

  • Monitor and report on the global cash position and maintain working capital forecasts.
  • Manage the interentity fund transfer process.
  • Maintain external relationships with the banks and other advisors.
Statutory and Compliance

  • Manage the annual external audit process for the consolidated entity.
  • Complete statutory returns including VAT and P11ds and reconcile.
  • Review overseas branch statutory accounts.
Internal controls

  • Develop, maintain and communicate policies and procedures relating to finance, transaction processing and treasury and lead on their implementation across the operation globally.
  • Ensure procedures, policies and controls are in place including those oversees and subsidiaries are recorded accurately and consolidated.
  • Implement appropriate financial controls.
  • Provide advice and support to the organisation on financial management, internal financial controls and financial systems procedures.

Requirements:

Fully Qualified; ACCA, CIMA or ICAEW
Strong technical understanding of current UK GAAP, FRS 102
Ability to manage a finance team.
Strong financial analysis, critical thinking and problem solving.
Year-end statutory audits
Advanced Excel
Advantageous
Knowledge of the charity sector
Access Dimensions
US GAAP and IRS Form 990
Experience of producing consolidated statutory accounts

Renumeration
Salary c£55,000 pa
Holidays: 25 days plus bank holidays and extra days at Christmas
Hybrid role - 2-3 days per week in the office
Pension - company contribution 8% after 3 months
