ABOUT LGC NATIONAL LABORATORIES:


LGC's National Laboratories deliver a range of expert science functions and services in partnership with the UK Government, business, healthcare, and academia.

We manage and operate several national laboratories on behalf of government agencies, such as the UK National Measurement Laboratory (NML), MHRA Laboratories Team and National Reference Laboratories, as well as hosting the unique function of the 'Government Chemist'.


Job Description:


The primary role of the Receptionist is to ensure the service from the Teddington reception desk provides a first-class visitor environment for both external and internal customers across the whole LGC Group, seeking regular feedback.


This involves regular review of LGC's visitor management systems and environment, and professionally managing any changes which impact on the reception including those affecting security of the building.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing incoming telephone calls quickly and politely and reporting any technical problems promptly.
  • Greeting and handling visitors in a friendly and pleasant manner.
  • Promptly informing staff that their guests have arrived.
  • Producing name badges for visitors.
  • Managing fire drill procedures and reporting on visitors to the fire wardens.

Administrative Tasks

  • Managing couriers and deliveries that come to reception, assisting with ticket sales for staff events', collating information from the Partner Patrol system general typing and admin assistance to LGC teams without losing sight of your priorities to reception duties.
  • Effective liaison with the security staff each morning the evening to ensure a smooth handover between teams, maintaining a professional service from the reception desk.

Qualifications:


  • Experience in a strongly customerfocused environment is essential.
  • Basic literacy, numeracy, IT and typing skills.
  • Well presented in appearance, flexible attitude, and a pleasant, approachable nature.
  • Good telephone manner and communication skills.
  • Understanding of telecoms and visitor management systems desirable.
  • Reliable, able to use own initiative and calm under pressure.
  • Interest in science an advantage.
