Legacy Strategies are currently looking on behalf of one of our clients for a Plant Maintenance apprentice to work on some of their large projects in the Wellingborough area.


As a Plant Maintenance Apprentice you will learn a large variety of skills, including the construction equipment mechanic checks, services and undertakes basic fault finding activities and will either through their own fault-finding activities or through given instructions, remove, dismantle, repair, assemble and refit a plethora of components, and ensure that the item of plant is fully functional prior to handover to the operational side.

The apprenticeship will give you the opportunity to learn whilst earning and will give you the following skills:

  • Working area preparation including workshop, facility and construction site-based to carry out maintenance activities on construction-based equipment.
  • Identify, handle and store required resources, tools and equipment necessary to maintain constructionbased equipment, reporting shortages/incomplete stock as appropriate
  • Configure, set, rig and prepare the plant or equipment safely and efficiently for the accessing, handling and removal of typical components, including the use of securing, jacking and lifting aids for supporting, securing and handling purposes.
  • Disconnect, detach and/or remove a wide range of components and ancillary equipment Safely and efficiently from constructionbased equipment, including using lifting, securing and handling aids.
  • Dismantle worn, damaged or faulty parts, components and equipment
Overhaul, repair, renovate or repair worn, damaged or faulty parts, components and equipment

  • Replace and reinstate worn, damaged or faulty construction equipment parts
  • Assemble, connect, attach and refit a comprehensive range of new of repaired constructionbased equipment components and ancillary equipment
  • Checks of static and operational performance on repaired constructionbased equipment to ensure full safe functional activity prior to handover and recommissioning to operation
  • Basic visual inspections on constructionbased equipment both in a workshop, facility and sitebased environments to identify potential issues and problems
  • Specified testing activities on constructionbased equipment both in a workshop, facility and sitebased environments that ensure correct and safe functional effectiveness
  • Produce oneoff components against given information and specifications that requires fabrication and welding activities
Repair or modify existing components from construction-based equipment which requires heating, welding and brazing

  • Install and commission constructionbased equipment on sitebased environments for operational activities
  • Basic faultfinding and diagnostic activities on hydraulic, electric, mechanical and pneumatic systems to identify existing problems on constructionbased equipment.
  • Complete organisational reports to confirm and document the work activity that was undertaken and inform employer and clients of work progress and problems encountered.
  • Working activities in compliance with legislation, regulations, best practice and organisational requirements in the construction, industrial, quarrying, hire, port, mining and other allied environments
    Qualifications you will gain:

Salary:
£22,000.00-£24,000.00 per year
