General role description
We are looking for an experienced and professional Accounts Assistant to join our growing team.
The post holder will be required to support the finance function across the business assisting in maintaining accurate financial records including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger entries.
Duties and responsibilities
Core responsibilities will include:
- Processing and paying supplier invoices
- Issuing customer invoices
- Credit control
- Processing monthly payroll and weekly timesheets
- Generating and matching remittances
- Processing purchase orders
- Conducting bank reconciliations promptly investigating and resolving and discrepancies
- Support with the preparation of financial reports providing valuable data analysis and insights for the management team
- Maintain accurate financial records
- Support with the preparation of management accounts and monthend duties
- Processing new supplier requests and documentation accurately
- Internal and external query resolution for both sales and purchase invoices
- General administrative duties to support to support the team
General duties and responsibilities will include:
- To ensure security of company assets
- To comply with all company policies and procedures
- To comply with the companies safeguarding policy & procedure
- To comply with Equal Opportunities Legislation and be proactive in challenging prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping.
- To implement in full the Company's quality policies and procedures.
- To consult the company Health and Safety Policy with regards to their specific responsibilities as described in the general arrangements section
- To give consideration to their actions at work as to how they may affect the safety of learners, clients and visitors to company premises
- Support organisations core values
- Cooperate with all staff to achieve a healthy and safe workplace and reporting any risks identified, at the company's or others premises, to the designated Health and Safety Officer.
- Other duties that may be identified from time to time by the Company
- Attend relevant training / personal development programmes
Skills and Knowledge
Essential skills, knowledge and experience required to fulfil the role include, but are not limited to:
- 3 years+ proven experience in a fast paced accounts and/or finance role
- Knowledge and experience of using Sage 50
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage priorities effectively
- Enthusiastic, well organised and diligent, with the ability to work to strict deadlines whilst paying attention to detail
- A good level of literacy and numeracy
- IT literate including Excel
- AAT qualification
