Packaging Technologist

Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire

Working within the New Growth Platforms (NGP) team you will be focused on our European, Asia and Middle East Portfolio.

Area of focus within this team would be on Hygiene and Health, to name few key brands they would be (though not limited to) Dettol, Finish, Harpic, Airwick, Lysol footprints across surface care and personal care.


Within this role you will ensure:

  • All packaging elements are delivered within budget and to agreed set timescales (accordingly to SOPs and internal systems)
  • Detailed project success criteria are in place for all projects and each aspect fulfilled
  • Provide technical inputs into design briefs and that the selected designs meet the product success criteria.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal partners for example: marketing, trade, legal, regulatory, medical, R&D, regional packaging teams, engineering, quality, procurement and external partners for example: suppliers, tool makers, design agencies, test houses, universities, creative agencies
  • Manage pilot tool qualification ensuring packaging to be fit for purpose and to meet set KPI's
  • Support Production Tool qualification & Line validation on need basis
  • Take part in Gross margin improvement and Sustainability programs
  • To identify and evaluate new developments or trends which could be considered in the GBS business and this could include innovation, technologies, materials and processes
  • Ensure all new product developments are compliant and adhere to the requirements from other work stream such as: Formulation, Regulatory, Medical, Quality

Do you have:


  • Degree in Packaging Engineering or related scientific field
  • Demonstrated competence and proven track record of success within Healthcare/FMCG environment
  • Knowledge of injection and blow moulding mandatory. Knowledge about other technologies is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Manufacturing technology (both on the making of the packaging components as well as the related filling and packing technology)
  • Knowledge of relevant packaging legislation, regulations and standards
  • Understanding of Intellectual Property issues associated with structural packaging design
  • Experience in handling multiple NPD's successfully.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, think and work independently, problemsolve, work in teams and multitask.
