Refresco UK is part of the Refresco Group a multi-national independent soft drinks manufacturer with 78 manufacturing sites across Europe, North America, and Australia in 15 countries.

In the UK we have 6 sites, Bridgwater being the biggest - 158,700m- factory including warehouse. We work with all the large UK supermarkets plus many well-known branded drinks producers.


Sustainability Coordinator - Bridgwater, Somerset

Monday - Thursday 8:30am - 5pm, Fridays 8:30am - 4pm

About the role of Sustainability Coordinator at Refresco Beverages:

The Sustainability Coordinator will provide professional support to the sites Senior Teams and the Site Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Manager and other relevant functions to ensure a common and consistent approach to all environmental matters.


  • KPI Reporting to Finance and Leadership team
  • Ensure compliance with ISO14001, IPPC requirements and EA permit through the operating teams.
  • Environmental incident investigation: Be a point of reference to the teams on environmentally related incident investigation.
  • Conduct planned inspections in relation to the agreed standards within the environmental agenda
  • Weekly line audits (27 lines, 28 fillers)
  • Ensure submissions in respect of Climate Change Levy (CCL) and European Emissions Training Scheme (EUETS) are accurately completed and submitted within required time frames.
  • Maintain legal registers and review on an annual basis.
  • Manage the site protection monitoring plan and impact study and generate actions to close out any substandard conditions. Mitigate all risks on a temporary basis if necessary.
  • Investigate high potential incidents.
  • Implement and ensure continuity of the site sustainability forums with key stakeholders across the site.
  • Ensure all information required to update spreadsheets that record energy use and production figures are received and records kept up to date.
  • Investigate high energy & water usage where ratios exceed site KPIs.
  • Identify recycling opportunities and keep abreast with new streams of recycling.
  • Drive sustainability projects in conjunction with Projects or relevant Engineering personnel.
  • Ensure Group and UK ESG objectives are implemented.
  • Facilitate the development of a positive Environmental culture through Environmental education, training and coaching to change environmental behaviours and improve performance.
  • Support with ESOS audits and the implementation of ISO50001 framework.

Key objectives for the Sustainability Coordinator:

  • Year on year improvements on environmental issues
  • Year on year reductions in energy, water & waste
  • Successful audit results no major findings
  • Communicate all environmental and sustainability issues
  • Achieve and maintain > 95% for Group HSE Standards Self Auditing process

About you:

You will need to be passionate about sustainability and driving improvements on environmental issues. You will need good knowledge on waste reduction, reducing energy consumption and water waste/disposal - effluent plant.

  • Good ISO14001 verification audit understanding
  • Good environmental legal compliance standards knowledge
  • Experience working with the environmental agency
  • Understanding of the European Emissions Trading Scheme Strong stakeholder management
