    Amazon seeks a detail-oriented News Monitoring Specialist to join its Corporate Communications team. This role involves monitoring online news and forums, identifying notable stories or posts, managing general public relations inquiries, and flagging inaccuracies and emerging negative narratives.

    Key Responsibilities

    The ideal candidate is extremely organized, internet savvy, and able to sift through information with an eagle eye for topics relevant to Amazon's business. This role requires reading and assessing high volumes of information to identify potential reputational issues, spot emerging news trends across traditional and social media channels, and contribute to communications reporting.

    The specialist will ensure PR teams and senior leaders are never caught off guard by reputational issues through timely flagging and routing of media inquiries. This is a critical support role within the organization that requires relentless attention to detail and a passion for finding a needle in a haystack.

    The successful candidate will be self-motivated, able to work in a global team environment across different time zones, problem solve, and possess a can-do attitude. They must exercise sound judgment and critical thinking, multitask, meet tight deadlines, and switch gears at a moment's notice.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

    - Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Writing, Research, or related field
    - 2+ years of communications, monitoring, analysis or related experience
    - Knowledgeable about Google, Bing, and other methods to search the internet
    - Understands boolean logic and social media listening
    - Strong organization and proficiency working in Microsoft Outlook, including managing multiple accounts
    - Passion for processes, mechanisms, and data management
    - Demonstrated ability to follow media trends and stay current on news developments

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    - Experience in Public Relations, Communications, or Media Monitoring
    - Ability to conduct quick and efficient research
    - Experience identifying and analyzing emerging news trends across traditional and social media platforms
    - Solid understanding of the current media landscape and news cycle dynamics
    - Excellent attention to detail, well organized and a self-starter
    - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    - Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
    - Experience working in Salesforce and other knowledge management tools
    - Experience working across time zones and with global teams
    - Knowledgeable about Google, Bing, and boolean searches
    - Passion for processes, mechanisms, and data management
