Year Support Assistant

37 hours per week, term time plus one week

Actual salary - £22,258.99 per annum (FTE £25,878)

Grade 5, Points 15-19
Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED - December 2019) with the inspection stating:

The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018.

This extension is an addition to the £20.6 million state-of-the-art building that was completed September 2012, giving every student the opportunity to learn in an exciting and inspiring environment at an Academy that has been recognised for its high standards of inclusion.


The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer.

It is conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders & benefits from excellent road and rail links.


Required for September 2023, we wish to appoint an enthusiastic & well motivated individual to join our team of Year Support Assistants.

The post holder will be required to provide administrative support to the Head of Year in addition to supporting students, to help them achieve their targets.

This is an interesting & varied role that includes working closely with students, parents, teaching staff & external agencies linked with the Academy.

The working pattern for this role is Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:00pm and Friday 8:00am - 3:30pm.

  • Be an effective communicator;
  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Be wellmotivated and approachable with a positive attitude;
  • Be able to build positive relationships with students; colleagues and parents
  • Possess excellent word processing skills (experience in the use of SIMs is desirable);
  • Have excellent organisational skills, be able to work unsupervised and the ability to plan and prioritise their workload;
  • The ability to relate well to young people is essential;
  • Be flexible in their approach to the requirements of the post.
