Description
This is a great opportunity to join Kip McGrath Education Centre as SEN tutor.

We require a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher who can have a real impact on the lives of our young people.

Motivating and inspiring our students will help them to develop the skills they need to move on in life.

We are looking for teachers who are confident teaching English and maths to pupils aged years old with a variety of learning and emotional difficulties.

You need to have experience working with students with challenging and disruptive behaviour and ideally have Team Teach or be willing to train.

Although the hours are variable and entirely dependent on the number of students that attend, we are currently expecting to require tutors until the end of the summer term and contiune in September.

This position would be suitable for someone who needs to work school hours only - between 9.30am - 2.30pm, term time only.

We are very flexible around childcare requirements.

Kip McGrath

Kip McGrath Education Centres is an international organisation which has been in operation for 45 years. It has a excellent track record for results. The Barnsley South Centre teaches mainstream students after school and at weekends. During school opening hours we also specialise in students who find mainstream school challenging.

We work closely with parents and many other agencies such as CAMHS, Social Services, schools, SENCOs and Education Welfare Officers to establish the best way forward for the student.

This is not your average teaching position.

As an SEN teacher at Kip McGrath you will need to be versatile, creative, be able to respond to individual needs and offer a nurturing environment.

The job is challenging but incredibley rewarding.

We need a qualified teacher who:

  • Is confident to work independently with groups but also be able to work as part of the Kip McGrath team
  • Has a proven track record working as an SEN teacher in an SEN environment, preferably but not necessarily with experience with students between the ages of 11 and 1
  • Is confident in the implementation of behaviour management techniques
  • Is able to teach ages years KS 2 and KS 3 maths and English
  • Can also teach Foundation GCSE English and one who can teach Foundation GCSE maths
  • Can motivate, inspire and enjoy working with the students
  • Can be flexible (through negotiation) with working hours
  • Is able to complete relevant paperwork
  • Is able to work closely with other professionals and parents involved with those young people
  • Can offer a nurturing environment
  • Has worked with a variety of SEN needs examples
  • ASD (autistic spectrum disorder)
  • PDA (pathological demand avoidance)
  • PDD (pervasive developmental disorder)
  • MLD (mild learning disabilities)
  • SLD (specific learning disabilities)
  • ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)

Progress with these pupils can be slow when compared to their contemporaries so patience, a caring nature, passion for the job and strong self-belief will be essential.
