We are seeking a self-motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team of maritime specialists in a senior role.
This is a great opportunity for someone with a port or marine background, and a strong analytical mindset, to join a growing team working on maritime projects that make a significant contribution to the UK economy.
You will have the drive and motivation to make a difference in the ports and maritime sector, whether working with small trust port or larger port groups.
- Working knowledge of port or marine operations
- Consultancy or project management experience
- Analytical skills with a scientific mindset
- Understanding of marine risk management processes
- Experience with vessel operations
- Strong communication skills that will support the delivery of technical reports and presentations to senior personnel
- Excellent timemanagement, organisational and prioritisation skills
- A driving licence and a selfsufficient mindset (travel is an expectation)
About the role
You will work as part of a highly ambitious team, directly involved in all stages of client projects, from feasibility and costing to delivery and ongoing support.
Technical delivery:
- Providing onsite port/marine assurance auditing
- Preparing technical studies, such as Navigational Risk Assessments, aids to navigation reviews, vessel traffic management studies and pilotage assessments
- Onsite client work to prepare and support port/marine operational instructions, management systems and plans
- Consulting with stakeholders and hosting of workshops
- Delivering training to port and harbour organisations
- Providing operation and development support to clients, such as mooring studies and vessel traffic management advice
Service development:
- Managing enquiries and preparing proposal documents
- Business development, including attending conferences and networking
You will also work in conjunction with other teams in
ABP providing advice and input for projects throughout the marine environment.

Our offices are based at Town Quay in Southampton, with fantastic views overlooking Southampton Water.
We recognise it is not always convenient to work from a central office every weekday, which is why we provide flexible and hybrid working options.
We deliver varied projects, primarily throughout the UK, but also overseas; as such some of our project work requires occasional site-visits, port and site operational checks and working away from home.
