Job summary:
As the UK's regulator for the energy industry, Ofgem works on behalf of energy consumers to ensure that every household and business in the UK can rely on a safe, affordable and environmentally sustainable energy supply.
This is a high profile, high impact role where you'll be working within the data team to accelerate data driven decision making, digital transformation, and innovation across the organisation.
Working closely with a range of internal and external stakeholders, you'll be involved in creating data ecosystem architecture and strategy, and promoting collaboration across the data platform delivery team.
A strong communicator, you'll have experience prioritising and delivering features across data solutions, managing design processes and leading activities such as research techniques and service design.
You should be able to lead a team to prioritise and deliver work, and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, whilst thinking strategically to design and deliver a product strategy and roadmap.
We're looking for somebody with extensive data platform expertise, ideally in an Azure Microsoft data ecosystem, as well as working within a data engineering team.
Ideally, you'll also have experience in the management of licence models and costs and the use of Microsoft cloud data and analytics stack.
You'll be joining a flexible and supportive team environment, working with people passionate about data, with the autonomy to shape a new team, and guide the role data plays within the organisation.

Job description:
The Principal Data Product Owner is a senior role to accelerate data driven decision making, digital transformation and innovation across Ofgem.
- Making OFGEM a recognised digitalisation leader with innovative approaches in the exploitation emerging data technologies
- Establishing the platform capabilities to deliver long term value in the specialist areas of Data and analytics.
- Supporting our drive to of 'easy speed and certainty' and deliver improved innovation driven operating efficiency and effectiveness and informed data driven decision making.
- Prioritise the development of capabilities in the use of existing and stateoftheart intelligent data services and technologies to support improved regulation
This role works closely with the Head of Digital Product Strategy, Chief Analytics Officer, Data & Digital Insights, Digital Services and Delivery and Schemes leadership teams to define and agree strategic and tactical priorities.
Key Outputs and Deliverables
- Data product Strategy and Roadmap
- Data ecosystem Architecture
- Data ecosystem assessment alignment matrix and investment criteria(including value/benefit/impact monitoring)
- Data ecosystem 'Ways of Working' including governance processes
- A culture that promotes innovation, investigation and collaboration across the Data platform delivery team, data analysts, data scientists and data operations teams.
- Delivery of a central Solution/Product owner service for Intelligent workflow
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
