Description
Responsible for constructing pallets, wooden cases and other wooden products to the required specifications, ensuring that products are packed and shipped safely and securely.
Being responsible for personal health and safety, the health and safety of others and for calling out risks to management.
Key Responsibilities
Pallet and Wooden Case etc. Construction
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications to construct pallets, wooden cases and other wooden products to the required dimensions
Using a jig to cut/nail together wood to design specifications
Selecting appropriate materials and tools to construct products
Assembling and join products using a range of techniques, including nailing, stapling, and screwing
Inspecting finished products to ensure that they meet the required specifications
Quality Control
Conducting quality checks on finished products to ensure that they meet the required standards
Reporting any defects or issues to the supervisor immediately
Maintaining accurate records of quality checks and defects
Health and Safety
Complying with health and safety regulations and guidelines at all times
Completing daily tick sheets before and after use of any plant/equipment
Using personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated
Reporting any accidents, incidents or near misses to the supervisor immediately
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Teamwork
Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively
Communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner
Demonstrating a positive and proactive attitude to work
Overview
Experience in pallet, wooden case and other wooden product construction will be looked on favourably however full training will be provided
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications will be looked on favourably however full training will be provided
Knowledge of woodworking tools and techniques will be looked on favourably however full training will be provided
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Working independently and as part of a team
Communication and interpersonal skills
Forklift truck license will be looked on favourably however not essential
