About the Role 1


Purpose of the job


Making the heritage of the borough accessible to our communities through the collections and resources available at the Kingston Museum.


What the job actually requires

  • Open and close the Museum on Saturdays
  • Prepare, set up and deliver Snappity Under fives workshop sessions
  • Assist with community engagement events and activities
  • Welcome visitors to the Museum and deal with enquiries in all formats and completing evaluations and recording visitor data.
  • Maintain a high standard of presentation inside and outside the space covering information, service provision and displays
  • Promote the Culture and Heritage Service
  • Work alongside museum and history centre staff and volunteers

About Us 1


The Heritage Service team is a small, friendly, enthusiastic and dedicated team passionate about the heritage of Kingston and working with colleagues across Culture and Heritage to engage the local community, and the wider world, in their rich history.

We have 11 staff working at the Kingston History Centre and Kingston Museum. Kingston History Centre is an accredited archive service and Kingston Museum is an accredited museum.


About You 1

You will be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the heritage and museum sector and an interest in the local history of the borough and have an excellent approach to customer service and experience of working in a public environment.

You will be able to communicate effectively using appropriate methods with colleagues, partners and the public.

You will demonstrate strong organisational skills and be able to work on your own initiative as well as being a supportive team player with a collaborative attitude.

You will demonstrate excellent IT skills and experience of event logistics would be desirable.
