Job summary:


The Electronic Warfare & Communications Group is the lead for specialist Communications and Electronic Warfare aspects of Dstl's Counter Terrorism and Security capability.

We provide science and engineering support for military and security operations and conduct research and development in areas including Electronic Countermeasures (historically focused on countering improvised explosive devices (IEDs); cellular and mobile protocols; wireless communications and electronic surveillance; electromagnetic compatibility; and radio-frequency directed energy weapons for the purpose of Homeland Security and Counter-Terrorism Systems of the UK.

Job description:


The ECM Stores Assistant will work alongside the ECM Stores Manager and enable the Group in providing its engineers and scientists with the required support and equipment necessary for testing and trials, including its ordering, inload, management, and outload.


In this role you will:


  • Receive, store, issue, and move ECM stores in accordance with electronic and manual procedures.
  • Maintain the security, condition and cleanliness of the storage facilities.
  • Maintain accurate records and complete documentation for all stores in accordance with procedures; including regular stock checks and external audits.
  • Manually move, lift, transfer and position stores and equipment in storage or in preparation for receipt and issue. This may include unloading and loading vehicles.
  • Conduct liaison with external companies in order to ensure all test and measurement equipment's are calibrated in a timely manner.
  • Conduct purchases and subsequent reconciliation of materiel for the Group and the projects it supports.

Important Information


This role will require full UK security clearance and you should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

For some roles Developed Vetting will also be required, in this case you should have resided in the UK for the past 10 years.


Person specification:


We are looking for someone who has:

  • A keen eye for detail and able to follow standard operating procedures.
  • A solutionorientated approach to work, embracing that this is a customer focused role.
  • A good understanding of maths and the ability to use databases.
  • The flexibility to support a large team over a wide variety of defence and security based tasks, often at short notice.
