Group Credit Risk Director - Financial Services / Payments

North West / Midlands

c.£150,000 to £200,000 pa plus LTIP, bonus, car, pension, healthcare


Our client is a global leader in financial services with a product range which extends across fuel cards, telematics, insurance, telecoms, leasing and e-mobility.


Due to ongoing growth our client is looking for a high profile credit risk professional to lead the Group's credit function nationally and internationally.


Responsibilities include:


  • Leading the Group's centralised credit department encompassing all areas of operational performance, setting the vision and strategy, defining policy and setting risk appetite, building the credit systems roadmap, creating a high performance culture, supportingpeople development, managing the budgets and delivering financial results.
  • Accountable for a significant budget with a large headcount in the UK and across 12 countries in total.
  • Defining the target operating model for credit, establishing the roadmap and continually refining this to meet the needs of the business.
  • Direct line management of two Credit Directors and a team across Credit Modelling, Analytics and Insight and six further Heads of Credit.
  • Leading the people agenda including recruitment and retention, succession, recognition and reward, training and performance management.
  • Credit data accountability credit decisioning is used to provide operational scalability for smaller value customers for larger more complex customers there is a more bespoke credit management process.
  • Arrears management and monitoring.
  • Proven at a senior level within credit risk from within banking, payments, lending or some other similar B2B or financial services environment.
  • Experience in the leadership of large teams and driving excellent results within a credit function.
  • End to end credit risk experience including credit underwriting, collections / recoveries.
  • Forecast management and bad debt provisioning.
  • Experience of working in a regulated environment would be an advantage.
