About the role:


  • An opportunity has arisen for a someone to undertake Stock Control for the laboratories operated by Sonic Healthcare UK at the Royal Free Hospital.
Wiithin the organisation you will have the job title of:
Laboratory Support Officer.

This role has come about due to Sonic Healthcare UK having promoted the previous post holder to a Team Leader at another site.

The role will be based in the hospital - postcode NW3 2QG- We are recruiting for an individual to join a small team to undertake Stock Control of all equipment used at the Whittington.

Stock will be held at the Royal Free Hospital, in our Warehouse and with the Manufacturers.- The Stock Controller/Laboratory Support Officer works with the Team Leader and other Support Officers helping ensure that the facilities required by the laboratories work efficiently and effectively.

By reducing facility downtime, you will contribute to the robustness of the service we offer and ultimately improve patient pathways.

- Your duties will include:

Responsive Maintenance - for all equipment used in the laboratories: logging equipment faults with the manufacturers, conducting basic repairs to the equipment with assistance from the equipment manufacturers telephone support teams; logging confirmation on the system for an engineer call-out for faulty equipment and keeping the key stakeholders updated on the progress of the repair; stock control of spare parts and consumables; escalating support issues where required.
Cyclical Equipment Maintenance - liaise with the manufacturers for the regular maintenance visits and any necessary changes to the cyclical repair program; advise in advance and update the different departments and teams when equipment downtimes are expected; communicate with the Sample Collection Teams, the contingency plans when there is equipment downtime.
Equipment Calibration - responsible for calibrating equipment; logging any issues on the reporting system; obtaining remote support from the manufacturer; co0ordination of onsite engineers; updating the calibration log.
Stock Control and Procurement - monitoring and managing stock levels held locally and at the Sonic Healthcare Warehouses; undertaking a regular stock control; posting orders in to the Ledger system; assessing optimum stock levels and making necessary adjustments.


Essential requirements:


  • Experience of working with Quality Management Systems or Stock Control Systems
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience of MS Office
