The School of Social Work and Social Policy comprises an interdisciplinary group of researchers and teachers in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences.

We carry out teaching in areas relating to Social Work, Social Policy, Education and Social Services, Child and Youth Care Studies, and Residential Child Care.

We also undertake research and knowledge exchange in a range of areas, including Children, Young People and Families; Health and Wellbeing; Citizenship and Communities; Migration and Social and Criminal Justice.


We wish to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Senior Lecturer to contribute to our research profile and to the delivery of our programmes in Social Policy which are ranked as being amongst the best in the UK in the Good University Guide and Guardian league tables.

We would be interested in applicants who can offer one or more of the following specialisms:
Health Policy, Migration, International Social Policy, particularly focusing on low and middle income countries, and quantitative research methods. We have courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and a vibrant PGR programme.

You should have a good honours degree, a Master's Degree and PhD with evidence of publications and research income, as well as experience of academic and course leadership, curriculum development and teaching.

We have a fair and transparent workload system and provide ongoing support for all new members of staff.
