Controls Design Engineer

Location:
Rochdale

Salary:
Depending on experience

Hours: 8.00am - 4.00pm Monday-Thursday, 8.00am pm Friday. 35 hours per week

Our client, a specialist manufacturer business based in the Rochdale area are looking for a Controls Design Engineer to join their team.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Controls Design Engineer to join a well run and established control panel manufacturerwithin their design team.

Within the Technical Department, the talented Control Design Engineer will provide a strong electrical engineering capability for all electrical control systems and have extensive experience in electrical control design, specifying enclosures, controllersand other components.

Control Design Engineer Responsibilities include:

Produce electrical schematics and general arrangement drawings for the control system using AutoCAD drawing packages. AutoCAD Electrical would be an advantage.
Creating PLC I/O Connection details
Prepare bills of materials
Liaising with Panel Builders and Wiremen on Shopfloor
Enclosure Specification & Selection
Assist in quoting of control systems
Assist in Control Panel Test
Supporting After-Sales Team with telephone enquires
The successful delivery of all design projects allocated to you
Producing test documentation and manuals (i.e. O&M's, FDS)
Liaise with Customers and interpret their requirements.

The Role Requires the Design Engineer to:

working within a fast paced environment,

- take ownership of contracts at the point of handover of specification (from Sale to Engineering Dept.)
- work with purchasing, subcontractors and production departments to deliver high-quality engineered products to all the major players in their respective global industries.

A strong engineering background is essential;

- prior knowledge of control panel design.

Experience/Qualifications:

Professional qualification in an engineering discipline (i.e. HNC, ONC, NVQ)
Experience of AutoCAD and/or Electrical Design Package such as AutoCAD Electrical
Have some knowledge of PLC's and how they operate or be willing to learn them
Have the ability to design simple control circuits
Good people skills, time management and attention to detail
Communicating effectively, both internally and externally
