  • Job description
  • We are looking for a Technical Support Officer to join our Regulated Industry department in North East Area. The successful applicant will play a vital role in supporting the department in delivery of its key objectives, including work on customer information requests, management of shared mailboxes, compiling monitoring returns, records management and debt recovery. The applicant will work closely with Regulatory Officers, Specialists and Team Leaders.
Key objectives of the role include

  • Management of customer information requests and enquiries
  • Management of shared mailboxes
  • Providing and maintaining efficient support systems
  • Compiling monitoring returns
  • Support debt recovery work
  • Support on EPR high profile sites


  • The team

  • The Support Officer will be located at our Darlington or Newcastle offices and will support officers in Regulated Industry across the North East Area who deliver a range of activities on permitted sites across the area to ensure compliance and protection of the environment.


  • Experience/skills required

  • You'll be able to demonstrate that you have experience of, or skills in:
  • Effective communication and developing and maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Influencing and persuading customers;
  • Working independently, taking decisions and solving problems to achieve positive outcomes;
  • Prioritises and organises tasks and resources to ensure timely achievement of results
  • Working cooperatively as part of a larger team to achieve common goals.
  • Effective use of Microsoft IT packages

The role can be undertaken on a hybrid basis with a mixture of office and home working
There may be occasional travel required between Environment Agency offices
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do.

You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident.
