Description
We have a brilliant opportunity for an experienced, enthusiastic and committed Purchasing and Stores Assistant to join our family-ran, friendly team and accredited Electronic Security and Fire Company.
The Role
Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.
A proactive approach to problem solving and multi-tracking they will need to be able to cope under pressure and have the ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
They must be able to communicate accurately and concisely, whilst having strong methodical, planning, co-ordination and effective time management skills.
They will be experienced in MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel.
Someone that is very accurate with good common sense and the ability to self-manage and use their own initiative should fit in well in this role.
Responsibilities:
Assisting the Purchasing Team in the daily operations of managing and coordinating the Purchasing & Purchasing Stores departments.
Stores
Receiving Deliveries;
Ensuring equipment and products are delivered, received, checked off and organised and stored efficiently, communicating at all times with relevant internal parties.
Ensuring equipment and products are received in a condition consistent with the original request and any quality issues are addressed with suppliers.
Matching and sign off of the delivery note, purchase orders and invoices and ensuring they are accurate, communicating anything not accounted for.
Ensuring the stores area is maintained and good stored in appropriate areas ensuring Health and Safety standards/procedures are adhered to.
Managing recycling/waste activities as required.
Loading and unloading plant, equipment, ladders, scaffold etc in accordance with all Manual Handling and Health and Safety Policies.
To adhere to safe working standards and to the Health and Safety policy ensuring work is carried out safely, reporting any concerns to the Health and Safety Advisor and to your line manager.
Purchasing
Raising and placing orders with suppliers
Progressing live orders with suppliers and determining an estimated delivery date
Monitor and review progress of all outstanding orders
Ensuring deliveries are on time, received and checked off
Being responsible for following up with suppliers if there is a delay or potential delay
Communicate and inform internal departments of any potential delay
Proposing solutions or alternatives if products cannot be sourced on time
Entry requirements
GCSE Maths & English grade 4/C desirable.

Excellent communication skills
Good literacy, numeracy and practical skills.
Be willing to contribute ideas
Ability to work as part of a team, and on own initiative.
Excellent computer skills including word, excel, outlook
Training to be provided
One day a week at New College Durham combined with work place training.

Holidays: 20 days holiday plus statutory holidays
