Community Respiratory Clinical Lead Band 8a


We are looking for people with a vision and drive to implement new ways of working, shape the future of community respiratory services, and deliver improved patient outcomes.

We need a clinical leader to nurture and develop a community workforce that is diverse in job roles and totally focused to provide the best care in the community for people living with a long-term condition like respiratory in Barking and Dagenham or Havering


You must already be an expert in the field of respiratory who practices as an advanced clinical practitioner with extensive knowledge and experience in respiratory care.

Main duties

  • The Lead Clinician will be highly visible, accessible, authoritative and an influential figure on whom staff, patients, families and carers can rely. The post holder will ensure a strategic approach is taken to providing high quality Respiratory Services, foster a culture of clinical quality, service improvement.
  • As an Advanced Clinical Practitioner, the post holder will work jointly with professional lead to take the lead in the planning, coordination and delivery of evidence based expert care for a variety of patients within predetermined criteria, their relatives and carers.
  • You will act autonomously using advanced decisionmaking skills to prescribe & undertake treatment, and initiate changes in management of care when necessary. The post holder will have significant discretion to work within Trust policies and national guidance, as lead specialist in the area of Respiratory Care.
Probationary Period

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.

All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction.

Due to major investments and expansion an exciting opportunity has arisen to join our growing respiratory teams based in 3 boroughs.

This newly created role will be pivotal in shaping the direction of services in the coming months and years, whilst we go through a period of transformation over 18 months.

As the clinical lead, you will need to work with Professional lead, Operational Leads, Heads of Service, Assistant Directors, Commissioners and Transformation Team to ensure together we build teams/services that can respond to the changing service provision and deliver outstanding care and improved patient outcomes.

Doing more of the same is no longer good enough for our residents, 21stcentury services require a more joint up approach that always puts the person in need at the centre and this role will be the driver for this change.


With your commitment to this service development, we commit to develop your skills and knowledge across multiple areas, with both leadership and clinical programmes.

You will be supported in delivering this project by experienced teams, who will support you to adopt, adapt and embed the change to deliver the best outcomes to patients.


This is a clinical role that will lead the development of respiratory services across 3 London boroughs, working alongside with the professional lead and Operational Leads who are the service managers.

You will already be a proficient communicator who is comfortable to challenge and be challenged and can articulate a vision and direction for future service development.

High Cost Area Supplement - London


This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £3,898 and a maximum payment of £4,967).
