Our Services Team based in Newcastle are seeking a Senior Electrical Test Engineer with strong technical acumen to support the implementation of AC Resonance test activities for high profile sub-sea power cable projects for offshore wind installation and act as Electrical Test authority on all testing conducted in field.

This is a key role within the JDR and the post holder will act both as a technical authority on the HV testing capability offshore, as well as, ensuring compliance with electrical safety regulations.

This is an opportunity for a proactive engineer who has the drive to continuously improve themselves, by overseeing implementation of brand new, market leading, HV Test technology being used offshore.

Working collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders you will be predominantly onshore based with a need to be offshore during AC resonance activities so the ability to travel overseas is a must for this position.

Reporting into the Operations Manager, Services you will be responsible for the following:

Play a key role in ensuring compliance in electrical safety matters relating to offshore testing operations.
Liaise with equipment Offshore Installation Manager and clients regularly; attending meetings, Training, Type Testing, supporting procedures and FAT's where appropriate.
Leading the implementation of Offshore AC Resonance Testing by liaising with all stakeholders to plan and execute all documentation (e.g. procedures, circuit diagrams, RAMS) relating to operation of the test unit.
Strong understanding of Electrical switching operations, earthing systems and cable principles such as cable losses and the effects of Q Factor on a test circuit.
Responsible for the effective management and leadership of the Service Support Engineers coordinating the timely work required and the quality of the work of those direct reports, managing their development within JDR in order to ensure that the team operates efficiently and with energy and enthusiasm.

HND qualified as a minimum you will have strong communication skills both written and verbal to structure concise reports to enable discussion and guidance on an individual basis or to management.

Team leading experience is also required as you will be responsible for managing a team of Service Support Engineers.
