Our Public Sector client is looking to recruit a Democratic Services Officer on a 12 month initial contract.

You will be able to provide and assist in the development of Democratic Services in relation to the governance and scrutiny of the client and a broad range of member support functions to enable elected members to perform their roles effectively.

We are looking for someone with the following knowledge, experience and aptitudes:

Significant experience of local government constitutional law and practice, governance rules and procedures, including different decision-making structures for local authorities and scrutiny procedures.
Political awareness and problemsolving skills with an ability to identify potential issues early, sensitively manage relationships at the political interface and work well with both senior elected members and chief officers
Scrutiny officer experience, including scoping and writing up reviews (ideally with some Health Scrutiny experience)
Highly developed interpersonal skills
A committed team player with a flexible, helpful and proactive approach
Evidence of the ability to adapt and innovate at pace
