Creative Industries Directorate. We are inviting talented creative practitioners and educators to work in our successful Art and Design curriculum area.

Your task will be to educate, inspire and nurture the next generation of creatives to enter the creative economy, you will transform creative lives.


We are searching for a
Lecturer in Art and Design to join the team where you will receive a competitive salary of
£24,698 - £35,732 per annum pro rata.

You will join us on a
part time (18.5 hours per week)
permanent basis. The current gap in our Art and Design curriculum team is for an exceptional
Photography / Lensed based expert.

About the role:


As the
Lecturer in Art and Design you will need to be capable of teaching up to and including Foundation level and will be expected to have skills that cover aspects across the visual and digital arts.

The current vacancy is for a
photography specialist. However, we would consider specialists from all fields of digital and creative practice. We welcome also applicants from the creative industry and economy who are new to the education sector. The ability to teach
film / animation and visual aspects of content creation would be of interest.

We believe in waiting for right person for our students. Someone who is a "force for good" and goes the extra mile for every student. The position is for immediate start but we will take current posts into consideration, this includes a September start.


Responsibilities as our Lecturer in Art and Design will include:

  • Contributing to the development and delivery of a range of educational programmes including identifying learning objectives; determining, designing and producing study material; planning course/study programme delivery.
  • Delivering outstanding teaching to school leavers and adult learners.
  • Contributing to high quality learning experiences using a variety of teaching and learning methods.
  • Ensuring that teaching is based on current best available practice and is consistent with a high standard of practice.
  • Providing academic and pastoral support to students in accordance with agreed procedures.
  • Scheduled teaching, student assignments and tutorials.
  • Participating in the College's appraisal process and undertaking any training that may be appropriate.
  • Offering guidance on UCAS and other postcollege destinations.
  • Support activities as appropriate within the Learning Resource Centres.
  • Preparation of schemes of work, lesson plans and assignment schedules.
  • Contribute to our partnerships with external stakeholders.

As our Lecturer in Art and Design you'll
ideally have:

  • Knowledge of current evidence-based practice in field(s) of expertise
  • Some experience of facilitating learning for students in Further or Higher Education or an appropriate workplace setting, for example, school
  • The ability to access and use relevant sources of research evidence
  • Desire to form positive working relationships
  • Willingness to take part in Open Evenings, Employer liaison, and careers events
