Description
We are looking for a dynamic and culturally sensitive Community Culture Liaison Coordinator to join our team, supporting the service dedicated to separated migrant children years old).

This role is instrumental in bridging cultural gaps, fostering community relationships, and ensuring the well-being of residents within the supported accommodation facility.


Responsibilities:


Cultural Competence:

  • Develop and implement cultural competency training for staff to ensure a culturally sensitive environment.
  • Serve as a resource for staff, residents, and external partners on cultural considerations.

Community Engagement:

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with local communities to promote integration and understanding.
  • Organize community events and initiatives to encourage interaction between residents and the broader community.
Language Support

  • Coordinate language support services to address linguistic barriers for residents.
  • Collaborate with interpreters and language specialists to ensure effective communication.
Crisis Intervention

  • Provide cultural insight and guidance during crisis situations, working closely with the Service Manager and support staff.
  • Address cultural nuances that may impact the wellbeing of residents in challenging situations.
Advocacy and Empowerment

  • Advocate for the cultural and social needs of residents within the service and with external agencies.
  • Empower residents to maintain and celebrate their cultural identities while navigating their new environment.
Educational Initiatives

  • Develop and deliver educational workshops on cultural diversity, inclusion, and sensitivity.
  • Facilitate sessions to raise awareness and understanding of the cultural backgrounds of residents.
Collaboration with Families

  • Establish connections with the families or guardians of residents to ensure cultural considerations are integrated into support plans.
  • Facilitate family engagement initiatives to strengthen the support network for residents.
Qualifications and Skills

  • Qualifications in cultural studies, social work, or a related field.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly those of separated migrant children.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to bridge cultural gaps.
  • Previous experience working with migrant or refugee communities is highly desirable.
  • Fluency in multiple languages is an advantage.
  • Sensitivity to traumainformed care practices.

Salary:
£27,000.00-£29,000.00 per year
