We are looking for an Operational Reporting Specialist to join our Finance team on a salary of between £41,795.00 and £53,061 on a permanent basis with hybrid working and a market leading benefit package.

The Volume Forecasting and Operational Reporting team is one of the key functions within Energy Economics, central to understanding and managing energy costs for the E.ON's UK retail businesses.

The team manage the financial exposures inherent in procuring large volumes of wholesale gas and power, enabling significant £m commodity purchases and ensuring evolving commodity costs are understood and recoverable.


In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that activities operate within the internal governance and compliance framework, also playing a key role in enabling Volume Forecasting to prepare for changes in operational reporting.

More broadly you will develop skills in stakeholder management whilst supporting the wider business, requiring a strong capability for prioritising and promoting change to meet challenging timescales, while maintaining quality and flexibility for customers.


What we need from you:


  • Highly numerate.
  • The ability to assimilate information quickly.
  • Strong commercial analysis skills with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify and work with imperfect/incomplete information and to use appropriate business rules and/or statistical/risk modelling techniques to manage uncertainty.
  • Good IT skills with the ability to design and maintain complex spreadsheet and database models.
  • Informal presentation skills and an ability to put across complex concepts clearly.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and interface effectively with people from all levels and parts of the organisation.

It would be great if you have:


  • Understanding of forecasting processes & techniques or energy trading back office processes.
  • An understanding of the energy industry.
  • Experience and appreciation of ETL (extract, transform, load) and associated processes when working with data.
  • Knowledge of IS systems development, particularly SAS.
  • Additional knowledge of Python / Databricks would also be advantageous.
  • Experience of improving existing business processes through IT systems development.
  • Strong analytical skills, highly structured working method.
  • Experience within the wholesale energy markets and end to end trade lifecycle.
  • Development of skills of specialist colleagues.
  • Experience of regulation, compliance governance within energy markets.
  • Proven experience in the handling, settlement, and billing of transactions in energy or other commodity markets.
