Client Summary:
My client is a global engineering organisation currently seeking a Supply Chain Coordinator to join their team in Burton on Trent.
With locations across the globe this is a truly international organisation that is seen as a market leader in their sector.
The successful Supply Chain Coordinator will join a team which acts as the central point of contact for a number of UK sites.
This team is responsible for managing the supply of materials and commodities crucial to the engineering/manufacturing processes ateach site.Position Summary:
- To build total market knowledge of the respective commodities and associated supply chain to reduce full life cycle costs.
- To represent Procurement at Fleet Management, Heavy Maintenance and Crash across UK Service region (mature markets and emerging markets).
- P+L responsible to the UK Services region, including South Africa
- To be responsible for managing all commercial relationships with their suppliers and their subgroup of suppliers (high value, high strategic importance and high complexity)
- Take full responsibility for driving supplier performance improvements and develop innovative supply chain improvements
- To lead initiatives to improve cross functional teamwork ensuring that commodity and region wide supporting strategies are adopted
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop regional commodity strategy and support bids for friction materials.
- Manage Supply Chain Performance
- Build total market knowledge of respective commodities and subgroups
- Owns the product proposition for the end customer
- Define and implement deployment of best practice supply chain methodology
- Lead and negotiate, for bids, with relevant activities e.g., JDDP and target costs
- Negotiate stock holding levels at suppliers in conjunction with Procurement Operations team.
- Sets target service levels
- Coordinate strategy with divisional colleagues to ensure strategic fit with regional and divisional procurement.
- Implement appropriate contractual arrangements with suppliers e.g., LTSA, STC and MSA.
- Agree "best fit" supply base by commodity
- Responsible for all commercial aspects of supplier relationship 30%
- Manage Cost Reduction
- Accountable for Code 30+ activity and to deploy various tools to drive cost reduction, regionally and globally,
- To actively engage with colleagues within the Bombardier Procurement network to maximize ideas for delivering cost reduction both regionally and divisionally.
- Complete responsibility for life cycle costs on respective commodities for all projects
- Design, develop and implement actions to mitigate risks as well as maximizing the financial performance of the project.
- Manage Supplier Performance
- Responsible for supplier performance for the commodity, utilizing standard BT tools.
- Manage and coordinate Suppliers to achieve improvement targets, utilizing regional resource to achieve this objective
- Improve and maintain supply chain performance KPIs
- Lead key discussions at poor performing suppliers
- Develop the SRM model for the top commodity suppliers and develop as part of a "road map" approach
- Manage Interface with Regions and Core
- Develop appropriate strategic direction and align with peer groups
- Ensure correct strategic fit to each business unit requirements
- Establish excellent working relationship with regional and divisional procurement teams including business heads, ensuring that commodity strategies are developed/ maintained
- Monitor commercial and technical risks associated with the sources, materials, services and the processes during all phases of a Purchase Contract.
- Support bids, projects and external customers as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong Supply Chain Management background including risk management identification and mitigation.
- Demonstrable track record of cost reduction within life cycle costs model
- Developing improved service propositions for the end customer
- Ability to drive change across regions, culture and geography
- Strategic/tactical management capability
- Supplier performance improvement
- QCDR
- Knowledgeable of Warehousing and Distribution logistics operations
- Continuous improvement background
- Negotiation skills
- Strong reporting skills
- Strong financial capability
- CIPS qualified/equivalent
- Degree qualifications ideally
- SAP/ERP experience
