The early years provision at Copthorne Primary School in Bradford is looking for a hardworking and enthusiastic apprentice nursery assistant to provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for their children.

This is an excellent opportunity for any person wishing to begin their career in childcare in a primary school environment.


Duties will include:


  • Provide a high standard of physical, emotional, social, and intellectual care for children in the setting
  • Give support to other personnel within the setting
  • Implement the daily routine in the room
  • Carry out activities suitable to the age range of children in your area in conjunction with other staff
  • Be flexible within the working practices of the setting, be prepared to help where needed, including undertaking certain domestic jobs within the setting, e.g. preparation of snack meals, cleaning equipment, etc
  • Ensure children are collected by someone known to the setting
  • Develop your role within the team
  • Ensure the setting provides a highquality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development
  • Actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring setting policies and procedures are always observed
Training Provided


You will be working toward the Intermediate Apprenticeship for the Early Years Practitioner and will achieve the mandated Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner plus maths and English Functional Skills if you have not already achieved them.

Apprenticeships are delivered in the workplace and 6 hours of your working time will be dedicated to 'Off the Job Training'.

You will be allocated a personal Training and Development Officer and will have access to our online study area where you will find all your assessment materials.

Your Training and Development Officer will provide you with personal tutorial support and assessment at pre-arranged times.
Assessment is through a variety of methods including observations in the workplace, witness testimonies, product evidence, and professional discussions. All evidence will be logged to your electronic portfolio.

  • GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4) essential
  • GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4) essential
Other Information

Monday to Friday, term time only - you will not work during the school holidays.
