We have a fabulous opportunity for a forward thinking, dynamic and proactive professional with a passion for patient safety and quality improvement, to join our friendly Clinical Governance team in this newly created role of Patient Safety and Quality Governance Lead.

Hours per week: 37.5


The Clinical Governance team works to achieve the aims of the national statutory and regulatory requirements in relation to patient safety and clinical governance as a whole.

The Patient Safety and Quality Governance Lead will work closely with the Head of Clinical Governance and the Clinical Risk Manager with the management and delivery of clinical governance functions across the Trust.

As a Patient Safety Specialist (PSS) the post holder will lead on PSII investigations and where required, support patient safety improvement activity and ensure that systems thinking, human factors and just culture principles are embedded in all patient safety processes.

Including the provision of expert specialist advice to directorate clinical and non-clinical staff.


Support in the continuous improvement of patient safety and quality governance, building on the foundations of a safer culture and safer systems in accordance with the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and participate in the implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF) and oversee the Clinical Effectiveness team.


Undertake Patient Safety Incident Investigations and other reviews as relevant and promote patient safety thinking beyond why things go wrong in healthcare (Safety I), to examining why things routinely go right and how that can be maximised (Safety II).
