The role:


Working for the largest independent Lift business' in the UK, providing a whole host of vertical transport solutions to construction and end users.

The departments focus on Architects, Engineers, Construction Companies, and developers to provide solutions for their projects.


The Junior Design Assistant supports the Design Manager in delivering builders work drawings and finishes design proposals, ensuring they meet customer requirements including budget constraints, presenting proposals for approval to the customer.


The duties:

  • Assist with internal design/process development meetings.
  • Be proactive in learning how complex builders work design management can be implemented within designs.
  • Checking manufacturer drawings against current approved designs, to ensure ready for manufacture.
  • Assist with external site lift shaft surveys.
  • Assisting external design meetings to gain an understanding of design requirements and escalate issues to the Design Manager.
  • Assisting with BIM modelling sites (Building Information Modelling) uploading drawing and finishes schedules.
  • Produce standard supplier lift interior design documents for approval.
  • Internal design process management of the standard operating process.
  • Finishes approval document management.
  • Ensuring all documentation is properly classified, filed, and stored in accordance with the company policies and regulations.
  • Numbering and labelling documents for identification and reference.
  • Making sure that the department is following the correct procedures in the document flow process.
  • Taking minutes in design adhoc meetings to capture and reflect any changes within the design stages.
.Chasing comments / approvals on drawings issued by the Design Manager and capturing it within the Design Tracker.


Job Progression:

  • Potential job title change with more of a focus on lift shaft design and architectural lift interior concepts and managing the projects from initial sales design to final approval.
  • Producing technical lift designs on the back of lift shaft surveys to build an understanding to become approved to survey alone.
  • Managing external design meetings to meet customer expectations.
  • Managing BIM modelling sites (Building Information Modelling)
  • Become the point of contact for any technical queries within the business.
  • Produce special interior design documents.

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • No weekends

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Manchester: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

  • Auto

CAD:
1 year (preferred)
