Due to expansion and an ever-increasing workload, the Offshore Delivery Directorate within SSEN Transmission has an opportunity for a BIM Coordinator to support the management and development of digital data and information management across the delivery phase of our large-scale energy projects throughout Scotland.


You will be responsible for providing key input into the development of the BIM related information requirements documentation, in line with BS EN ISO 19650, as well as validating information management processes, other systems and tools, and the digital coordination of the project data assigned to you.


The key duties and responsibilities of the BIM Coordinator are:

  • Establish, coordinate, and help maintain the Common Data Environment (CDE) Autodesk Construction Cloud, at a project level, to align with the wider business strategy. Support the Digital team in upskilling of both internal teams and external delivery partners to ensure full understanding of the systems and processes, and compliance with prescribed workflows.
  • Assist in the preparation of the BIM related, Information Requirements documentation and annexes in line with the BS EN ISO 19650, and the UK BIM Framework.

This includes, but not limited to:

  • Exchange Information Requirements
  • Level of Information Need
  • Act as the main point of contact on assigned projects for all BIM related day to day tasks and coordinate the sharing of commercially sensitive or confidential model information and ensure consistency of approach on all projects.
  • Facilitate BIM Management, 3D coordination and Clash detection meetings with internal and external project team members and partners. This will include, verifying and validating model information and asset data and conducting clash detection and model federation, from deliverables supplied from our external partners.
  • Be part of the Digital team in assisting in the research, development, and review of new ways of working which will benefit the projects by increasing efficiency, quality and progressing our digital transformation journey.

What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Experience in model management and clash detection would be advantageous, with experience in collaboration software, specifically Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or BIM360. Knowledge in other typical Common Data Environments is also welcomed.
  • Knowledge of authoring, checking and validating data in AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks. This will include, having skills to coordinate multiple tasks, manage meeting schedules and reporting via ACC and other systems and tools, specific to the project.
  • Ability to identify basic requirements and main deliverables from expected processes and workflows from the CDE environment. Provision of technical support to project teams, and identification of business / project and technical improvements, including delivering training and support on your given BIM specialism.
  • Support with educating the project team and supply chain of the use and developments of the Project Information Model and it's graphical and nongraphical information.
  • Knowledge of ISO 19650 and UK BIM Framework guidance and industry standard best practices and processes for information management.
