Job Description:


Job Summary:


Day Shift 6am - 6pm, 3 shifts per week + banked hours (Continental Shift with weekend working)

Reports to Manufacturing Shift Manager


This role is responsible for ensuring the production cell is actively engaged to meet daily customer TAT whilst driving productivity and continuous improvement.

The Team Leader enhances performance through process improvement, provides effective training to the production cell, ensures out and processes consistence across the team and the other shifts while ensuring safety and quality standards are maintained at all times.


Essential Duties:


  • Work with the Manufacturing Shift Manager and other Manufacturing Shift Team Leaders to manage and prioritize staffing assignments to ensure customer demand and production targets are met.
  • Execute and coordinate employee training to ensure that procedures are followed and meet all quality requirements.
  • Agree and implement measures and targets, monitor and control performance, report on progress and initiate corrective action as required. (e.g. Quality, on time delivery, yield, rework and waste.)
  • Attend daily production meetings with the Manufacturing Shift Manger and peers, covering for staff absence, filling gaps in resource in all areas and prioritising work requirements and effectively communicating this to the team.
  • To work across the production cycle to ensure the flow of work meets customers TAT and expectations. Taking immediate decisions in problem solving to ensure all units meets their deadline.
  • Use basic problemsolving techniques to ensure stable operation of the work cell.
  • Report problems or concerns with quality, processes, equipment, materials and labour to the Manufacturing Shift Manager and appropriate teams.
  • Work closely with support staff such as Engineers, Operations, Supply chain, Quality and HR to resolve issues.
  • Set, monitor and review staff and shift performance.
  • Update production metrics and facilitate regular team communication.
  • Identify and support continuous improvement efforts with the Manufacturing Shift Manager and the continuous improvement team.
  • Initiate and implement best practice processes, techniques and drive lean manufacturing and 5S activities.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
  • Participate as an active member of the production management team
  • Follow documented policies and procedures as designated by the company's Quality System.
  • To deputise for the Manufacturing Shift Manager and other Manufacturing Shift Team Leaders as and when required.
  • To ensure all production equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately in conjunction with the engineering department. Keeping daily safety checks books and documentation where necessary.
  • To provide a positive 'cando' approach to management, whilst leading the team by example.
  • Ensure Health and Safety compliance and programs are being followed where applicable
  • Ensure compliance in the SOP for machinery in the cell.
  • In addition to the above the Manufacturing Shift Team Leader will perform other duties as reasonably requested by the management team

Qualifications:


Qualifications (Typical Experience, Typical Education, Knowledge/Skills/Abilities):

Experience

  • At least 3 years' warehouse experience in a fast paced, high volume environment
  • At least 3 years' experience as a Supervisor
  • At least 3 years' experience working with a Warehouse / Production / Distribution Management System

Education

  • GSCE / A level education required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in a FMCG environment
  • Proven track record of leading teams
  • Leadership within a modern manufacturing environment
  • Lean manufacturing, problem solving and continual process improvement experience.
  • Track record of leading a manufacturing team, bringing great leadership and team relationship building knowledge.
