Service Care Solutions are looking for a Fleet Services Stores Person to work within the Devon and Cornwall Police on a 6-month contract.


Location:
Exeter Police Station


Job role/responsibilities:

To maintain the Fleet Services Vehicle Parts Section in accordance with the parameter as set by the Logistic Coordinator.

Supplying goods from stock and using technical parts catalogues for bespoke ordering, minimising operational downtime by identifying associatedpart requirements and first-time picking.

Monitor technical updates from manufacturers affecting the provision of vehicle parts and ensure issue of correct products to fleet.

Enable the Force to take advantage of trade price options whilst adhering to financialpolicy, procedure, and audit requirement by use of electronic parts catalogues.


  • Provide 'just enough just in time' logistic support to service the demands of vehicle safety and maintenance. Supply vehicle parts and consumables to vehicle technicians as required.
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders for vehicle parts / equipment from approved suppliers to workshops, including receiving, receipting, picking, packing and distributing items.
  • Operate a forklift truck and other vehicles.
  • Ensure that all goods received meet quality standards and quantity in line with the purchase order.
  • Administer and maintain accurate records of inventory within workshops.
  • Assist the Logistics coordinator in carrying out regular inventory audits and provide support in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Support the Logistics coordinator across the geographical area, acting as point of contact in their absence.
  • Ensure all stock levels, specific parts and sourcing are maintained to agreed numbers.

Skills/Knowledge/Experience:


  • Extensive experience of working within vehicle parts environment with demonstrable technical skills and knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent decision making and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to plan and prioritise workload.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to communicate and engage at all levels.
  • Ability to deal confidently and efficiently with both external suppliers and internal customers projecting a positive image of the Force.
  • I.T. literate and experienced in the use of vehicle parts databases, stock control systems and interpreting information provided by vehicle technicians seeking vehicle parts.
