The S&A Group is the UK's largest independent strawberry grower.

We are excited to offer the opportunity for the following vacancy at our farm in Marden, Hereford:

Irrigation Assistant


As an Irrigation Assistant, you will be expected to help and assist the Growing Manager in their day-to-day duties regarding irrigation, fertigation, maintenance, and any other tasks related to the site.


The main duties and responsibilities include:

  • To have a full understanding of the crop's needs. Collecting drain and drip water records. Monitoring EC and PH. To help the day to day running of the irrigation system, to maintain and ensure there are no leaks/damaged areas in the irrigation system.
  • To mix the fertilizer as and when required. Ensure that all stock and fertigation systems are accurately controlled, monitored and maintained at all times to the required standard.
  • To deputise for the Growing Manager in their absence and on weekend rota.
  • Ensure all working practices are conducted with high level accuracy and that all documentation is completed accurately.
  • Ensure selfcompliance with all Company and Statutory Rules, Policies and Procedures (including H&S).
  • A very keen eye for detail.
  • Good level of English.
  • Able to work effectively with others to get the job done.
  • The ability to work diligently and methodically under minimum supervision.
  • Completes tasks to the required standards to ensure successful outcomes in terms of adherence to quality, cost and timeframe parameters.
  • Able to develop productive working relationships with colleagues in any parts of the business.
  • Highly organized. Accurate with figures and inputting of information.
  • Able to plan and assess workloads based upon available information. Take on new tasks as appropriate.
  • A full, clean driving licence.

Full training will be provided.
This role is offered on a zero-hour contract. The hourly rate for the role is £11.44 per hour.


Pay:
£11.44 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
