Urban Heaths Partnership (Dorset)
What's in it for you:
The Urban Heaths Partnership (UHP) has an exciting opportunity for someone who is dedicated to environmental education.
UHP is a partnership hosted by Dorset Council, made up of 10 organisations including local authorities, nature conservation organisations, the police and fire services and works to mitigate pressures from further urban development upon heathland sites across south east Dorset.
What you can expect to be doing:
The Education Officer will work as part of a small multi-disciplined team, working with the Education Co-ordinator and two other part-time Education Officers to deliver an outreach education programme raising awareness of the heathland habitat and the pressures on sites arising from their use and misuse by visitors and encouraging interest, understanding and responsible behaviour on site.
This will include leading school sessions and activities, attending community events, supporting volunteers and producing informative and interpretative educational materials to promote the UHP, including web materials, leaflets and displays.
About you:
The person appointed will have a recognised qualification in teaching, ecology, countryside management, environmental education, a related discipline or considerable experience in a similar role.
The role includes working outdoors in all weathers and working evenings and weekends (for which time off in lieu will be given).
