Contract Scotland has an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounts and finance professional to join our Glasgow based client as their Cost Accounts Supervisor.

This is a full time, permanent position offering a competitive salary, hybrid working and the chance to work with a business who are well known and respected in their field.


Supporting the wider Financial and Commercial Teams and reporting into the Financial Controller you will be working on a major contract which delivers FM solutions and will support the business to help achieve P&L targets, business improvements and cost efficiency.

This is an integral role within the Finance team where duties will include:


  • Developing strong working relationships with suppliers, colleagues and clients.
  • Accurate costing and control of subcontractor expenditure, reflected in the timely production of cost / supplier reports.
  • Negotiating and challenging contractors on cost queries to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Reviewing accounts transactions processed by Cost Administrator including materials, timesheets and invoicing, ensuring supplier query resolution and accurate record keeping.
  • Valuation of maintenance, reactive and project works of the contract in accordance with agreed rates.
  • Liaising with Operations teams to ensure all variations are captured.
  • Developing a job validation schedule to include on site assessment of subcontractor works.
  • Quality checking invoice details from all suppliers, ensuring customer gets value for money on all jobs carried out.
  • Building strong relationships with customer to ensure open communication and expectations of invoicing are always met.
  • Managing the commercial aspects of subcontracts in compliance with commercial procedures including obtaining quotations, evaluating tender returns, valuing subcontract works and payment, issuing and responding to relevant notices and agreeing subcontract final accounts.
  • Working with Commercial team and identifying areas of improvement around supplier performance.
  • Presenting/demonstrating costs upstream to the Client and dealing with all queries within agreed timescales
You will have experience of working in a similar role ideally within the construction or facilities management sector. You will have the ability to analyse data and problems and deliver cost effective and efficient solutions.

In this role you will have one direct report so some experience of people management would be beneficial but not essential.

A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite is essential, with an expert knowledge of Excel.
