1.

Technical responsibilities:

1.1 Adhering to Trust and departmental policies, guidelines and quality standards.1.2 Supporting the work of Biomedical Scientist (BMS) staff working within the laboratory.1.3 Working at all times according to departmental standard operatingprocedures.1.4 Preparing and processing a range of clinical samples for testing, runningautomated tests on laboratory analysers as well as processing manual tests.1.5 Entering test results on to the laboratory information system.1.6 Performing daily, weekly and monthly maintenance on all analytical equipment within the laboratory.1.7 Analysing daily and weekly quality control tests and only accepting values within defined criteria.1.8 Informing BMS staff of any issues, inconsistencies or inaccuracies with QC analysed1.9 Preparing and processing External Quality Assessment samples.2.0 Maintaining and checking the daily stocks of reagents, kits and consumables required for and loading reagents on to analysers.2.1 Monitoring stock levels within the Department and advising BMS staff if supplies fall below minimum stock levels.2.2 Participating in audits2.3 Assisting with the maintenance of CPA, MHRA and UKAS accreditation2.4 Assisting in the maintenance of departmental procedures, policies anddocumentation2.5 Liaising with service users, laboratory personnel and other Trust personnel.2.6 Dealing effectively, professionally and politely with telephone enquiries.2.7 Dealing with unsuitable samples and / or requests.2.8 Maintaining test turnaround times by dealing with samples in a timely manner.2.9 Undertaking appropriate tasks, new techniques or other developmentalactivities as required by the line manager.3.0 Performing any other duties appropriate to the post and grade, as required directed by the line manager.3.1 Ensuring that the department is kept clean, tidy and safe at all times.
