Transport Administrator / Planner
Reporting to:
Transport Manager
Working Hours: 8:00am - 6:00pm, Monday - Friday, working & every other Saturday
Location:
Riverway, Harlow, Essex, CM20 2DP
Salary:
£30,000 - £33,000

The Role
We have an opportunity to join our busy team at HDL.
Initially the role will cover all aspects of transport administration with the objective the role will then develop to support with the transport planning and routing.
Using our bespoke planning database, our transport team optimise the daily transport plan to ensure effective and efficient utilisation of our fleet, whilst meeting the needs of our customers.
Main duties of the role include:
- Booking of jobs onto our planning database
- Support with all transport administration
- Source work and / or loads from our list of contacts to ensure our trucks are fully utilised
- Check vehicle availability for future work
- Prepare and communicate a daily work sheet to our team of drivers in a timely and efficient manner
- Communicate continuously with your team to ascertain workload and delegate as required
- Effective Planning and utilisation of Drivers and vehicles
- Ensure driver's hours and working time directive regulations and related legislation are adhered to.
- Plan collections and deliveries to agreed movement schedules.
- Communicate with drivers ensuring all paperwork is completed and returned
- Ensure that all vehicles are loaded efficiently within legal and safety guidelines
The Person
- Previous experience within a similar role with an indepth understanding of transport legislation is essential
- Able to remain calm and focused under pressure
- Able to solve problems independently and with confidence
- PC literate including Microsoft packages with Excel at intermediate or advanced level
- Have a proactive attitude to all issues to ensuring resolutions are achieved.
- Be able to make decisions under pressure and to a tight timescale.
- Have a flexible and adaptable approach to working in order to meet the requirements of the business, particularly at peak periods during the year.
- Be able to communicate well at all levels within the business.
- Must be flexible in approach to work and shift patterns.
