Prepared to accept a full-time contract (37.5 hours)

  • GCSE English and Maths grade A-C OR Level 2 Functional Skills English and Maths.

You will also need to meet one of the following:

  • Podiatry
  • Equivalent of BB at A level or A Level BTEC with Biology or an Access course with Biology. No option of accreditation of prior learning
You must have the minimum Level 2 English and Maths and evidence of level 3 study

All university and apprenticeship providers determine entry requirements for the apprenticeship programmes they deliver. As noted above there are additional qualifications and experience that may be considered as entry to the course. These are non standard entry requirements and will be considered at the discretion of the recruiting university.

Podiatry will be a 3-year programme delivered by Salford University. The intake will commence in September 2023.

Delivery will be blended and whilst induction will take place on the university campus learning will be undertaken using a blend of virtual platforms and face to face delivery.

  • Subject to change by Apprenticeship provider
  • Minimum of 6 hours per week study time consisting of lectures, face to face delivery and in class engagement
  • Independent Study allocated every week for the duration of the course
  • Placement requirements between 46 weeks per year


Applicants should be aware that in addition to the study time allocated there will be an expectation of additional study hours being undertaken in their own time.

Podiatry provides all aspects of podiatric care to the population of Liverpool, Sefton, and Mid-Mersey Places, across the Community Care Division.

The podiatry service treats and manages foot complications related to diabetes and other disorders that may affect the feet.


Qualified podiatrists supported by podiatry assistants offer a service to adults and children at community venues and in patients homes, residential and care homes.


The post holder will have the responsibility for participating as a key member of the team and other agencies to promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of an identified client group.


Provide a high standard of clinical care for individuals and groups within a defined area of the population under the supervision of a registered practitioner.


The post holder will maintain, develop and evidence their clinical knowledge, skills and competencies at all opportunities and act within the standards, protocols and guidelines for the delivery of care.

Ensure the delivery of the quality strategy within the designated area incorporating establishment of systems and processes.

Work collaboratively within the team and with other agencies to deliver local and national health priorities and objectives.

Accept clinical responsibility for a manageable caseload, where appropriate.

Be accountable for own clinical practice.

Deliver care in line with national quality standards and Trust policy.

Work within the skills and competencies expected of the role.

Provide clinical support and knowledge to support staff.

Act as an advocate and champion for clients.

Support clinical staff in managing long term conditions.

Organise and facilitate groups and /or individuals to develop self-care skills.

Identify the need for and initiate referrals to internal/external partners, within agreed parameters.

Develop 'person specific goals' with individuals, carers and colleagues

Enable individuals to develop the necessary skills to improve own health and lifestyle.

Contribute to health needs assessment of a defined area of the population.

Undertake risk assessment on a defined patient population in line with relevant guidelines.

Lead on health promotion activities as required.

Undertake clinical tasks, following patient specific direction.

Communicate effectively with patients and carers recognising the need for alternative methods of communication to overcome different levels of understanding, cultural background and pref
