Description:

We are looking for a talented Associate Scientist to join our Downstream Processing (DSP) team at Better Dairy. The role will draw on your knowledge of protein science & protein purification in a research environment.

As part of the role, you will gain exposure to a range of responsibilities involved in a start-up environment, with a particular emphasis on the scientific aspect.

You will be part of a small team dedicated to downstream process ingredients produced by precision fermentation.

Responsibilities:

Develop and improve workflows related to dairy protein purification and characterisation.
Support the team in downstream processes
Analyse and critically evaluate experimental results, with attention to detail
Focus on achieving team goals, prioritise and troubleshoot to complete assignments successfully
Complete project tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Communicate experimental results effectively across different teams
Maintain excellent laboratory records
Draft and execute standard operating procedures
Contribute to a high performance team culture through operational excellence, good laboratory practice and organisation.

Required Experience:

A degree or equivalent in a relevant area (B.Sc./M.Sc. or higher in Biochemistry, Biotechnology)
Experience in protein purification and protein biochemistry
Experience using AKTA/Unicorn systems for fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC) of recombinant proteins produced in microbial systems.
Knowledge and experience of tangential flow filtration (TFF) is desirable, but not essential.
Good numerical and problem solving skills with a systematic analytical approach and ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment
Good communication and numeracy skills
Strong interest in dairy science
